Christmas in Louisiana

On Christmas Day we made it to Louisiana where we spent the day with Ryan's parents and his Grandfather. The kids had lots of room to run and explore and that is just what they did. It is a beautiful piece of land with lots of history. Three houses have been built on this land and Ryan's grandfather lived in everyone of them. The house that is standing now is the house he brought his wife-to-be to, so she could meet his parents. At that time there was no indoor plumbing, only an outhouse. She must have really loved him because she was s city girl! I love hearing all of the old stories.

The drive up to the house! This is the view from the front porch!
This is the view of the back of the house.
The old shed.
A little creek that runs through the front yard. I think it is called a gully.
Don't hold me to that.

This is such a cute picture, but at the time was very scary. We were all in the tornado shelter and Eli decided to shut the door on us. I had a little panic attack thinking we might be stuck in there and Pop Pop and Paw Paw would never find us. But thankfully he opened it back up. Whew!
Thank you Paw Paw for letting us come visit. We had so much fun!

Thanks so much for posting these photos, Danyel! I know that PawPaw really treasured your visit. That little old house and the land surrounding it mean so much to me, it makes my heart happy to know tht the next generation of Nealy descendants are getting to make some memories there now. We have lots of great memories from when we were little - lots of walks in the woods and encounters with various cows and other wildlife, not to mention all the great memories of Neena and PawPaw.
Your kids are precious!
Emily
PS - I think PawPaw's bride was ok with the country because she knew she wouldn't have to live there right then! She was NOT a fan of snakes (or serpents, as she called them)!
